Petbnb Casual Worker Agreement

CASUAL WORKER AGREEMENT

This Casual Worker Agreement ("Agreement") is made between:

  • Petbnb Ltd (Company No. 16419391), registered office: 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom ("Company", "we", "us"); and

  • The individual named in the signature block (the "Worker", "you").

Effective date: the date you sign this Agreement electronically.

1. STATUS & RELATIONSHIP

1.1 You are engaged as an irregular‑hours worker on a zero‑hours basis. This Agreement does not make you an employee and does not guarantee work. We may offer Assignments from time to time; you may accept or decline any Assignment.

1.2 Each piece of work you undertake is an Assignment. Details (including dates, location, number of pets, total rate, and any special instructions) will be outlined in a Booking Confirmation issued via our platform or in writing.

1.3 You may work for others. There is no exclusivity. Clauses 14 (Client non‑solicitation) and 16 (Confidentiality) still apply.

1.4 Substitution: for safeguarding and right‑to‑work reasons, you must not appoint a substitute to perform an Assignment without our prior written approval (we must verify right‑to‑work and onboarding).

2. RIGHT TO WORK & VISA CONDITIONS

2.1 You confirm you have a current legal right to work in the UK and will immediately notify us of any change. You must provide acceptable right‑to‑work evidence and any Home Office share code we request; we will keep a copy as required by law.

2.2 If you hold a Student visa, you acknowledge that it does not permit self‑employment and you must comply with any weekly hours limits during term time. You must keep your own record of time spent on Assignments and cooperate with any checks we make.

3. DUTIES & ANIMAL WELFARE

3.1 Assignments typically involve cat and small‑pet care (feeding, clean water, litter tray hygiene, welfare checks, enrichment and play.

3.2 You must immediately report any illness, injury, escape, bite/scratch, or safeguarding concern to Petbnb.

3.3 You must treat client property respectfully, maintain hygiene, and comply with reasonable health & safety instructions.

4. HOURS, ACCEPTANCE & CANCELLATION

4.1 You control your availability in our portal and may accept or decline any Assignment. Accepting an Assignment creates a commitment to complete it.

4.2 If you cannot complete an accepted Assignment (e.g., illness/emergency), notify us immediately so we can arrange cover. You must cooperate with a safe handover.

4.3 We do not guarantee minimum hours. We may cancel an Assignment before it starts.

5. PAY, HOLIDAY PAY & PAYROLL (PAYE)

5.1 Pay method. We pay monthly in arrears by UK bank transfer via PAYE in any month in which you have completed Assignments. If you complete no Assignments in a month, no payment or payslip is due for that month.

5.2 Task‑based pay & National Minimum Wage. Each Pet Care Assignment (cat‑day) is a task‑based piece of work expected to require no more than 20-30minutes of active working time across the day (excluding rest/waiting time). If the actual active working time reasonably exceeds this, tell us as soon as possible so we can adjust pay to ensure your average hourly pay for that Assignment meets or exceeds the National Minimum Wage.

5.3 Rates and transparency. Unless the Booking Confirmation states otherwise, the default total rate per cat‑day is set out in Schedule 1 and includes rolled‑up holiday pay. Your payslip will show the base pay and a separate line for “Holiday Pay (rolled‑up)” currently 12.07% of base pay.

5.4 Rolled‑up holiday pay (irregular‑hours workers). You accrue statutory paid annual leave in accordance with UK law. As permitted for irregular‑hours workers, your holiday pay is rolled up and paid with each payslip as 12.07% of base Assignment pay (exclusive of tips). You are still entitled to take time off and must mark yourself unavailable when taking leave.

5.5 Deductions & set‑off. We will make any deductions required by law. We may recover overpayments or advances by deduction from future sums due.

5.6 Tips. Any tips paid via our platform are passed to you in full as a non‑contractual discretionary payment.

6. SICKNESS & TIME OFF

6.1 If you are unwell or injured and cannot attend an Assignment, notify us immediately so we can inform the client and arrange cover.

6.2 You may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay if you meet eligibility requirements. We do not offer contractual sick pay.

7. EXPENSES & EQUIPMENT

7.1 We reimburse pre‑authorized, reasonable expenses (e.g., emergency pet supplies) on production of receipts. Personal travel to/from Assignments is normally your responsibility unless agreed in writing.

7.2 Any equipment we supply remains our property and must be returned on request. You should maintain suitable clothing and hygiene standards for animal handling.

8. TRAINING, VETTING & CONDUCT

8.1 You must complete any onboarding/training we reasonably require (welfare, handling, hygiene, safeguarding, data protection).

8.2 We may request references or other vetting proportionate to the role. You must conduct yourself professionally and courteously with clients at all times.

9. INSURANCE & LIABILITY

9.1 Company insurance. We maintain business insurance appropriate to our operations as required by law (including Employer’s Liability Insurance) and Public Liability insurance. Workers are covered under such policies while performing Assignments, subject to the insurer’s terms.

9.2 Your responsibility. You must take reasonable care for your own safety and animal welfare. You will not be liable for loss to us arising from proper performance of your duties; however, you may be liable for losses caused by wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

9.3 Indemnity (proportionate). Where we reasonably incur loss, damage or expense directly arising from your willful misconduct, gross negligence or material breach of this Agreement, you agree to indemnify us for that loss, capped at the greater of £500 or your total Assignment pay in the 3 months prior to the incident. Nothing in this clause limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. HEALTH & SAFETY

10.1 Follow our health & safety guidance and any safe, lawful client instructions. Report hazards, allergies, bites/scratches or other incidents immediately.

10.2 You must not perform an Assignment if you believe it is unsafe for you or the animal; contact us for advice and to arrange alternatives.

11. LOCAL AUTHORITY LICENSING

11.1 Some activities (e.g., home boarding or arranging boarding) may require a local authority license. Where applicable, you must comply with any license conditions notified to you for the relevant premises.

12. CLIENT NON‑SOLICITATION / PLATFORM USE

12.1 During this Agreement and for 6 months after your last Assignment with any client introduced by us, you must not solicit or accept bookings from that client outside the Petbnb platform. Breach may result in termination and a reasonable estimate of our lost commission.

13. DATA PROTECTION

13.1 We process your personal data for onboarding, right‑to‑work checks, scheduling, payroll (PAYE/NIC), compliance, incident management and service quality.
